... And Then It Was Green

I painted the shed green on Monday, "Racing Green" actually. It took a whole gallon for one coat and needs a second, which I won't be able to get to until the weekend. Also need to pick up some black paint for the shutters and the trim on the flower box. I was thinking I should have painted it Eagles green, but I think this shade of green has a similar brightness to a "Barn Red" that I like. I also like that it's a different shade of green than the neighbor's shed, a portion of which is visible to the left supported by cement blocks.

It's been so warm here lately the song playing on the Jukebox is very fitting, "Summertime and the livin's easy..."

The Shed

We had our shed put together yesterday. We got it from Lowe's and their vendor Heartland delivered and assembled it. One guy put it all together, he arrived at 7:45 a.m. and finished before dark. Still needs to be painted, probably going with a nice green to blend in with the surrounding foliage. The panels are already primed, but the trim is bare and needs primer.

Thursday I did some more work on the backyard pulling out ivy and cleaning off the cement pad for the shed.

The interior has storage shelves and a work bench.

Can't wait to start filling it up!

Happy Birthday Walter!

May your egg beaters always have ketchup...

May your ocean and skies always be blue...

And you keep dancing to your own tune!

Have a great day. Best wishes from Lago's Lounge,

On Tap @ The Lounge - 4/20/2007

Happy Friday to all y'all!
Just got back from Lago's performance with Carolina Voices - Cantos de las Américas (Songs of the Americas). That's her in the photo above, just to the left of the bald dome.

Ol' Lazy Acres texted me during the performance. I think he may have had one too many Fat Tires, but I ask you, can you really have too many Fat Tires?

Lago is enjoying a Coronita with her trusty sidekick JP Stinkerbutt.

While yours truly going mellow with a mellow Modelo, yo...

Meanwhile, our li'l Ella Bella shows off her new do, she heard short hair is in this season.

Check in tomorrow for the revealing of The Shed!

Spring Wedding

Last night Lago and I attended a wedding for one of the managers at the animal hospital where she works. We didn't take any photos, but they had a photo booth set up and the photo above is what we got.

Lago worked yesterday so we only made it to the reception and got there just in time to eat. The ceremony and the reception were held at the Providence Country Club here in Charlotte. Very nice place, needless to say we're not members. We had a good time and even danced to a few numbers including an Usher tune. "That's what it's all about... I start the fire, I make the pizza... From there, the Q-Tip... Throw it away..." (Hitch)

This was the first wedding we've been to since we got married. They did an anniversary dance for all married couples. I don't recall seeing one of these before, but you could keep dancing provided your anniversary fell below the number of years the DJ called out. We made it past the one year mark, but had to stop dancing when he called out five years. The Coes, an older couple who own the animal hospital and both Auburn alumni (had to mention that for ol' Lazy Acres), were dancing and it was funny when they both looked at each other questioningly when the DJ called out 25 years. I think they left the floor when the DJ called out 30 years. The longest married couple still dancing were 37 years.

I was a little tired and sore last night after doing some more "excavating" in the backyard. My latest progress is in the photo below. Still much to do, but slowly getting there. It takes a while because I can't just run over the ivy with the mower. As I've shown, there's no telling what's under there. So I rake it all out with a metal rake and then hit it with the mower when I know there aren't any rocks, trash or what have you. Yesterday I found more bricks, a pile of broken cement pieces, some wire and a part from an old chandelier.

We had storms all night long and supposed to get some more rain today. Might be a good movie day!

On Tap @ The Lounge - 4/13/2007

Happy Friday the 13th, to all y'all!
Hope you have a safe Friday the 13th and no one goes Jason Voorhees on ya.

Lago is having the li'l Coronita while I'm drinking the regular size Corona.

The Monkey joins us this evening, or well should I say a friend of The Monkey. I hope Elmo is not driving home tonight.

Jukebox update... 1,265 Songs, 4 Days, 5.53 GB

Last 5 Songs on The Lounge Jukebox:
"All Along the Watchtower" - DMB (Chicago, 12/19/1998)
"I'm Your Boogie Man" - K.C. & the Sunshine Band
"Crush" - DMB (Live in Central Park)
"Would I Lie to You?" - Eurythmics
"Wait Until Tomorrow" - John Mayer Trio (live)

As everyone who's on the DMB mailing list already knows, the Warehouse has decided to release the latest Dave Matthews Band concerts in Las Vegas (recorded at the end of March 2007) on CD. The four-CD set is available for pre-order now and set to be released the beginning of June.

Oooh, I must mention the jukebox just went to "I Am the Highway" by Audioslave. That's the great thing about the jukebox on shuffle, you never know what you're going to get.

For DMB shows this summer, we've decided to go to the show in West Palm Beach in addition to the show here. I was looking for some others shows coming into town this summer since we're only doing a couple DMB shows, but the list is a little slim so far. Hopefully, they'll add some more shows as we get closer to the summer concert season.

Speaking of summer shows, the jukebox just went to "Driven to Tears" by The Police. If The Police decided to add a show here, I would definitely get tickets. They're one of the bands on my list that I still haven't seen live. Also on that list is Elvis Costello. For me, a great double bill would be Elvis and his wife Diana Krall, but who would open?

Salut!

On Tap @ The Lounge - 4/6/2007

It's Masters Weekend, baby!

Lago is doing fine after some exploratory surgery on her hand following a cat bite at work. She's even back to cooking. Pasta with homemade sauce is on the menu this evening. I will mention that I assisted in opening the tomato cans and spooning the tomato paste into the pot. She's enjoying a glass of Casillero del Diablo Chardonnay.

Ol' Lazy Acres is enjoying a Fat Tire and joining us this evening from the Country Club in Chesterfield, MO.

I'm having a glass of Big House Red at the Lounge Bar while watching the Masters 2nd Round I recorded on the DVR.

Ella Bella joins me this evening catching up on all the golf action.

The Masters has always been my favorite golf tournament even before I played golf. Not sure why, but always liked watching the Masters on TV for as long as I can remember. Ten years ago it became an extra special event with Tiger's huge win, and for me and many others, the golfer to watch. Anything's possible when Tiger's playing. When he's not out there, the tournaments seem much less exciting. Another Lounge fav, and one of Lago's fellow countrymen, is Sergio Garcia.
